Destructive Distractions

Destructive Distractions

“The most dangerous distractions are the ones you love, but that don’t love you back.” Warren Buffet

This time of Corona and lockdown actually brings with it a lot of opportunity for positive growth.  When you find yourself behaving the same way you did before lockdown then you are missing the opportunities.

We are very blessed to be able to have a mini computer and entertainment center in our pockets but when we can't put our phones down or close our laptops and we are only half listening to the people around us we are wasting precious moments that we can't get back.

From my point of view lockdown is flying.  It's already July and each week goes by in a blur.  That means we have had countless opportunities to be able to communicate or play with or listen to the people in our homes.  Are we using those opportunities or letting them pass us by?  We are all 4 months older than we were at the beginning of lockdown.

When your child or spouse is talking to you and you take about 5 seconds to actually look up and you answer them halfheartedly (having only heard the last part of the sentance), what message are you giving them?  They may feel sad and lonely as though they are not as important as what is on your phone.

If you are finding that you can't get through to the people in your home because they are distracted on their technology then maybe it's time to have a chat and tell them how you really feel.  Set the example that you would want them to emulate.

Ask yourself how you want to be in your life and what you want out of this time together?

Most of us struggle with this, don't you think?

Stay well
